National Presidential Wax Museum

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

The Ranch at Keystone is only about 8 miles from Mt. Rushmore. Plan a day adventure visiting George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln! Walk the presidential trail, join a junior ranger camp, or visit the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center. You can even top off your day with lunch and ice cream at Carver's Marketplace.

Crazy Horse Memorial

Crazy Horse is located at the center of the Black Hills. The mission of Crazy Horse Memorial is to protect and preserve the culture, tradition and living heritage of the North American Indians. Spend the day exploring one of South Dakotas largest mountains, soaking up the rich history of the lands and the native people.

Bad Lands National Park

The Lakota people were the first to call the land "mako sica" or land bad. The extreme temperatures, rugged terrain and lack of water led to it's name. It's rugged beauty now attracts travelers from all around the world. The park's 244,000 acers is protected lands to several species of wildlife today. If you are looking to get the full experience of the park it takes about 2 days, where if you just want to stop by to check out a few highlights, it takes about 2 hours minimum. The park is open 7 days a week, 24hrs a day.

Wind Cave National Park

Wind Cave is one of the worlds longest and most complex caves. The Native American Indians have know about this cave for centuries, and for many tribes it is a sacred place. The cave is known for it's barometric winds at the entrance and the box work formations that are rarely found anywhere else in the world. The mission of Wind Cave Park is to preserve and protect natural resources.

Devils Tower National Monument

An astonishing geological feature that protrudes out of the prairie surrounding the Black Hills. Today, Devils Tower is one of the best rock climbing areas in North America. There's a deep rooted history and many stories amongst the Native American Indians about the origination and use of the tower. For several tribes the area is still used as a sacred site today. Visitors will observe prayer cloths attached to trees throughout the park, especially along towers trail. Please do not touch or disturb these cloths.

Custer State Park

Custer is one of the nations largest state parks coming in at 71,000 acers. Nestled just outside the city of Custer, SD making this destination about 22 miles, or 40 minutes from The Ranch at Keystone. It truly is a must see that host mesmerizing scenic drives, historic sites, lakes, campgrounds and an abundance of wildlife. Swimming is allowed at the park's 5 lakes, as well as fishing.

Black Hills National Forest

Black Hills Forest is approximately 45 min drive from The Ranch at Keystone. The words "Black Hills" come from the Lakota words Paha Sapa, meaning "the hills that are black." Due to the pines that cover the hills, from a distance they appear black. President Grover Cleveland established the Black Hills National Forest in 1897 as the Black Hills National Reserve. There are 1.2 million acers of public land managed by the USDA Forest Service. The forest is used for recreation, livestock grazing, timber harvest, to name a few. For visitors looking for recreation there is 30 campgrounds, two scenic byways, 1300 miles of streams, 13,605 acers of wilderness and over 450 miles of trails.
